The Rainbow
Melbourne is well known for its changeable weather conditions. One minute its raining with winds ready to blow the roof off and the next the sun shines so bright you can literally feel it burn your skin. The weather here pretty much sums up how I feel today.
I've got mixed feelings. Yes, I'm all happy and bright because I've got what I've always wanted - a new life in a land with my family who I've missed for the past four years. On the other hand, it's rather gloomy that I've left behind my sister in the city of lights and luxury living. I have made the ultimate move, from high end city living to a suburban town where everyone has time for you.
I find it rather funny. You plan your life, set personal goals but it never turns out the way you think it would. Deep inside I secretly wished for this new life, to start over some place new. Never did I think wishes do come true. It was a regular Sunday evening after work when my folks down under decided to have an intervention over Skype breaking the news that I need to move. That minute on - everything changed. From never ending paperwork, to unplanned shopping, goodbyes to people I've grown up with and a sudden "I Quit" at the office - I didn't have time to to sit and mentally digest what was happening.
So, this is where I am today. Starting anew in rainy, windy ...oh wait no - right now its sunny Melbourne. I'm confused. After having lived in a buzzing city for more than 20 years to a quiet peaceful town. The air is crisp. People are much more friendly. I am gonna get used to this, in time. Do I miss the city? Yes. Do I wanna go back? No. You see it -my feelings are once again like the weather here.
I'm gonna end this post with one of my favourite lyrics from a song called "Home" by Daughtry.
"Be careful what you wish for; cause you just might get it all"
I guess none of us can sketch our entire future. We've not been given those powers. But we can wish, we can pray and hope. Don't give up on dreams either. That's what we've been entitled to do. But be realistic and be prepared.
I'm waiting for the rainbow to pop up now. I've been told its a common sight after a day of raining hail & sunshine. Looking forward to that. The output of my rain & sun = The Rainbow.
Gino.

nice work Ginelle! Your transition period is the best time to reflect, like a rainbow, it is the time when your colours will become clearer to yourself. Our rainbows will come and go many times through life, have eyes open to appreciate it each time.
