The Clements Road
I love my surname. For that reason – I don’t wanna get married! I guess that’s why my sister still uses her maiden name on Facebook. I love being called Clements, it feels rather sophisticated. And it’s different. Very seldom have I come across another Clements. Well, I have met a Clement in Sri Lanka, but that was his first name. And another Clement (pronounced Clemaun) who is from France. But never another Clements apart from family! Feels rather good, but along with being a Clements – you have to bear all the bumps and twists that comes along with the package! It is part of the deal. I have come to accept that.
Ask any of my close friends and they’d tell you what a roller coaster my life has been this summer. I don’t know how many times I would’ve used the lines “If only you told me sooner!” and “Ah! Please pray for me that everything would be ok”. There have been so many instances the past three months where I just wish I knew things earlier. It would’ve been just a matter of one to seven days and the whole scene changes. Every two days I’d be packing my bags moving to another place and staying there. I have keys to so many houses now; I don’t know where to go at night. I can’t decide on what to wear because the matching shoes and accessories may be in another house. Last week was just so sad, I had to say “bye bye” to Mraz – (Rozy’s and my Mazda 3 named as MAZ and then popped the R for Rozy in awe of the amazing Jason Mraz). I confess I had a tear in my eye as the new owner drove it away from me. That car has taken the Clements’ through some good times and never let us down. So many challenges lie ahead for me after this summer and I wonder where I’d end up.
But, I won’t complain. I love being a Clements and so I’m gonna take what comes my way a step at a time. It may be shocking, people may snicker & back bite, there might be tears of joy or laughter but I won’t give a hoot. This is our Clements journey and it’s gonna be bumpy but like I always say – the road being smooth all the time makes the drive boring with no thrills.
So be it, at my cousins or a friends place – it’s with people I love and who are being dragged along in this crazy summer ride of mine; I guess you guys have no choice. Looks like you all too are on the road to being turned into a Clements!
Much Love!
