Taking Delight

What are your thoughts on “God”? Yup, started right with it. You probably won’t even read the rest of this post. But….there is a slight chance you might continue since I said so.

So here’s hoping you do. Getting back, so - maybe all your sins flash before your eyes. Or you might think in awe of His glory. Do you pretend to show interest when someone talks about their religious beliefs? Or maybe you are one of those million people who prefer to be agnostic. Please, just please don’t tell me you are “too cool” for God. I hate that. Honestly, I do.

As for me, I take great pleasure hearing about the goodness of God. I lose all respect for anyone who uses His name in vain. If you are one of those people who swear using Gods name – you now know you are not in my “respected people list”. So yea, my heart is always ever so thankful to the mightiest God for being with me every second of every minute of every day!

In four simple words - I delight in God!
Delight is to take pleasure of joy in something.

You may see God as a supernatural force that is just there. That He can’t be reached. Or you can’t have a relationship with. Well, just do this. Whatever you’re doing, just stop for a minute and try, just try taking delight in Him. Find that joy that’s been hidden in your life. Maybe you say your life is perfect. But just sit and think what’s gotten you to where you are today. Stop praising yourself for once; you can’t take all the credit. Who guided your steps to work this morning? Who was with while that crazy driver cut in front of you? Who gave you the wisdom to ace that interview and get the job that pays your rent? As much as you worked for it, someone has been your silent guide through it all. Are you just going to ignore that force? Ignore GOD?

Your life might be standstill right now. Unanswered prayers. Waiting for that phone call, that someone to walk through the door, healing from your sickness. I get it; life isn’t all a bed of roses. But like I always say, “life without drama makes the show boring”. So hang on. Hold onto that fragment of faith lingering in your heart. From experience, all I can say is trust in Him and be patient. Gods timing never gels with ours.

If you don’t know God, I’ll say a prayer for you tonight. Pause in life, think of all the good things and the bad. Be thankful for all those unseen blessings. Give Him the glory. He deserves it. And take delight.

“Take delight in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart”Psalm 37:4

“I delight greatly in the Lord; my soul rejoices in my God. For he has clothed me with garments of salvation and arrayed me in a robe of his righteousness”Isaiah 61:10

Stay blessed,
Gino
