Who are you Dependent on?

We live in a world where a transaction worth millions could be done with a tap of a finger on a smart phone. Everyone is so dependent on every mode of technology; we expect life to just get simpler by the day. People now feel they no longer need to depend on other people or even God for that matter. They think they have their life under complete control.

These days even teenagers think they know best and advise their parents. They may soon have all the freedom they yearned for but, not so long down the line, they will soon reach that state of utter helplessness and can’t turn to their parents. So what do they do? Yes, stress & anxiety leads to unwanted addictions & habits and soon there is one more lost soul living in this world. If only they had had given God some importance and sought after Him in their decisions, they wouldn’t be in this pickle.

My post may seem secondhand as I was inspired by my daily devotional reading this morning but I thought it was something we all need to be reminded about. We cannot depend on our electronic tablets, smartphones, credit cards or medical wonders to get through life – we need something more concrete, more reliable, more mighty. There is no escaping from the truth that we need God.

Sadly, most people hate to admit their dependency on God. To rely on a path of no guarantees is utter foolishness.

So if you are reading this thinking you have complete control of your children, addiction, family, health or money problems - sorry to break the news; but you don’t. Neither do you know it all; there is a greater force. And it isn’t the latest app on your phone or the next Steve Jobs. It’s Jesus!

Don’t try being Superman or Wonderwoman, seek God for dependence.

Prayer is our declaration of dependence upon the Lord” – Philip Yancey
