"Anybody Home?"
It’s silent. There’s nothing on the stove. No telephones or doorbells ringing. No late night family meetings. No chatting sessions between mom and me. Everything is in its place. I don’t have to scream at my sister to keep her jewellery & clothes in the right places. Dad doesn’t call and ask what time I’ll be home. Everything’s so different. As I turned the knob and walked in to the empty apartment, I realized – I miss my folks!
I never imagined it would come to this, having the full apartment to myself. Yea – I know it sounds awesome to call some friends over, throw a party and have a good time. But that doesn’t make sense for me because I’ll still end up missing my family. I miss my mom asking me to text my sister from Australia to come online for a video chat on MSN or Yahoo. It’ll be the other way around now, my mom will be asking her to text me to come online. And I try picturing that moment when my folks surprised my niece. I can’t even imagine the look on her face, would’ve been a priceless moment. And I won’t be a part of the “elle” gossip sessions as well because I’ve been left behind to enjoy this phase what I’ve been told as “Independent Freedom”.
Today, I just want all my blog friends to value any family you have with you. Whether is your cousin’s family or your closest friends – they are family. True – I miss going out with Rozy in her “Mraz”, asking Dadda for advise and mamma’s yummy cooking but at the same time I’ve been blessed with my new family – best friends, a cousin, her husband and their kid who are always there for me. Much love to you guys!

So just treasure those moments you bicker with your siblings or ticked off with your folks because you don’t know what you’ve got till it’s gone and when you walk into the apartment, you’d wonder – “Anybody home?” and wish you’d hear their chitter chatter inside.
