Celebrate the LOVE of Christ
The DJ on the radio just played "All I want for Christmas is you" by Mariah Carey and said its her fave Christmas CAROL! I was appalled. How can a woman singing about wanting a man in her life be a carol? Christmas Carols are to be sung proclaiming the most precious birth of the Saviour of you and me. But nowadays people term carols as songs about making out under the mistletoe or having snowball fights with Santa.
I really thought I'd avoid the whole write-up on the true meaning of Christmas because its been said year after year. But i guess people need to be reminded. As the love of Christ grows in my heart day by day, the more I feel his pain and distress on how the world celebrates His birth.
I am not saying it's wrong to put up a tree, exchange gifts, fill up the stockings, bake goodies or dance to jingle bells. But when you completely make that your Christmas priority, it only shows that Jesus has been forgotten. It even happens in church, people get so caught up rehearsing for Christmas skits, Carol services, decked up with jewels & Christmas mass outfits that they ignore the birth of Christ at the end of the day. Everyone, be it christians or non-christians are so joyful and happy at this time of the year. Of course we should be, its the birth of the one that came to redeem us from our earthly home. But I see people being joyful and merry for the wrong reasons. Dont they have the tiny bit curiosity to know why Christmas is so holy? Why is it so special? How a king so royal, was a born in a stable? How the birth of this child changed the world...for real.
I am awestruck every time I read the Christmas story in the gospels of Mathew & Luke. No kidding but I get goosebumps. Everything from the star that led the kings, the angels who proclaimed to the shepherds and the birth of a king born to a virgin in a manger is so humbling. It literally brings tears to my eyes. How all the events and prophesies fell into place. And how we still wait for some of them to come to pass. My prayer is everyone feels this love and joy of Jesus.
So I don't mean to be a drag or a Christmas grinch. And I really don't wanna be nagging everyone during the holidays. But my heart truly longs for people to give their lives to Jesus. You'd see why I hate to see what Christmas has become in todays world.
So don't forget the reason behind the season. Celebrate LOVE this Christmas.
"For unto you is born this day in the City of David - A Saviour, who is Christ the Lord" - Luke 2:11
Have a Blessed & Joyful Christmas!
