A "Poured-Out" Life
This past week, I've had a few people ask me if my Easter blog post was ready. Honestly it wasn't until Good Friday that I sat with my journal and pen waiting for the words to flow through. It was just sheer laziness or maybe writers block, but thank you to those who asked. Your interest to read drove me to penning down my thoughts this Easter and as always I hope it inspires!
Today, I am a sinner. I don't proclaim myself to be worthy, perfect, wise or holy. I do and always will have faults. But I've been made righteous. I am saved. Every day I aim at being a better person. Passing less judgement, correcting myself and hoping to live a life full of purpose. But the fact still remains that I will continue to sin, in less ways maybe. But I would still be a sinner. And only the blood of Jesus cleanses me from that sin.
Isaiah 53 so beautifully prophesies about the death of Jesus on the cross. It speaks so much of His suffering. The Lord used the life of Jesus who was so pure, so holy as an offering for MY sin (vs 10). There is nothing I have done to deserve this gift of grace and mercy. I live a free life, a saved life. My salvation was paid by a very heavy price on that cross.
Jesus poured out His life on the cross for me to live a life full of purpose today (vs 12)
The miracle and beauty of this all is the empty tomb. Jesus brought about purpose with all the suffering he bore dying on the cross. He rose from the grave! The name of The Lord is glorified because we serve a risen King.
I don't know about you, but what I'm getting at is that I want to live a purposeful life. No denying you and I both face everyday struggles and sufferings. But let's just not stop there, let's use these sufferings to live the Christ like life in the world today.
Here is Jesus who poured out his HOLY life on the cross for the punishment of OUR sins. Couldn't we do the same? Let's live a life poured out for the glory of Christ to be revealed. We should use our hardships and sufferings as a life offering towards the salvation we've been so generously gifted by the blood Jesus shed for us.
Again I repeat, nothing we do deserves what we've been given but that's the least we could offer. Pouring out our lives for Christ in a very very tiny comparison to how Jesus poured His life for us.
I have peace today. As I face this sometimes cruel and evil world, I still walk with the presence of peace. Lest we forget the price Jesus paid for this peace. He is risen & alive in us today! Pour out your life for Jesus so the world knows he still lives!
"The punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed"
Isaiah 53:6
Have a Blessed Easter,
In peace,
Gino :)
