Like The Tree

The alarm rings. Another day dawns and its back to the same routine. Minutes to hours to days and before you know it - it's a new season! We make plans, set appointments, fix dates and organise our calendar. Time just keeps moving on. But how are you keeping up? Are the seasons in your life bringing you down? Has it been too stormy or a walk in a bright ray of sunshine?

I freeze time in my head to capture precious moments. But then there are times i stare at the sky, through the branch gaps in the tree and begin to put an outline on life. Rain, hail or sun - I continue walking towards the finish line, I can't see the flag for sure but I know it's there.

There are times when life is really pretty dandy. Its an illusion though. The fallen leaves around you are so orange, red & crunchy! You want all the hype, clutter, drama and crispiness but that slowly leads to a point where you can't take it no more. You need a breather. Time to process - rake the leaves and clean the mess. How many more issues is this going to lead to? Is it anything you wanted? Did you expect the fall of a leaf to bring so much tension...?

Time tests over and above. All of a sudden the winds are getting stronger. There are moments the branches swing like they're rocking out at a concert. In the darkness, the shadow of the tree hangs over you. The rattling of the few leaves are soon no more. Surely, you feel as though life is withering away. The light shines no more. The storm tests the grip of your roots. Are you planted firmly within? Can you hold on? Your life feels empty like the bareness of the tree. You're hoping against hope for brighter days.

Gradually, life begins to see a light. The flower weeds sprout up. What used to be calamities is now becoming little nuisances in life. Like a hiccup or a sneeze! You soon realize your surroundings are getting colour, life begins to re-grow. There is redemption. You notice two sides of the coin. Amidst the occasional huffs and puffs - you learn to appreciate the beauty of the new leaves sprouting up. Gardens blooming with flowers. You push your way through searching for that magical rainbow every now and then!

Life is good! Its a bunch of brightly painted flowers. There is light. Nights are short. The light gets a bit too bright but that's okay - the leaves on the tree protect you. You are shaded and guarded. You feel safe from the extremes of life's seasons. There can be no worry in the world. It's all sunshine & butterflies. Happiness at this stage would be an understatement.

But it's no sooner that life will soon start to come to a standstill. Questions marks will weigh heavy over you. There'll be gaps in that tree through which you will seek answers. You feel insecure, unsafe. Where is your guard? It's soon getting eerie. The leaves begin to fall...again.

The tree speaks your seasons in life.

He is up there.
Controlling life. Plucking each leaf from that tree and breathing in life on the new.

He is up there.
Walking you through those gaps in life and helping you see the light.

Your life is secure, firmly planted like that tree.
And you're just going through the seasons of life, just like the tree!

To inspire,
Ginelle..

Ps: The blog pic is a collage of pictures I compiled of the stages of the tree in my front yard the past year. The new baby leaves have begun sprouting up again, I'm excited :) !
