Inspired by Shooting Stars
As I was standing in awe admiring God’s magnificent creation in the woods with amazing friends in Harpenden, England, he had to do something even more spectacular. Yea...there it went by on that starry starry night, an amazing streak of light zoomed across the night sky !! And that was the first time I saw a shooting star!
Shooting stars are said to be bits of dust and rock particles (meteoroids) falling into the Earth’s atmosphere and then burning up…but I was thinking, why does dust leave a glowing trail? I mean its dust right, so I did my little research and found out that these dust particles knock off the electrons in the atmosphere which then leaves a trail of combined positively and negatively charged ions. Ok, I know what you’re thinking – I will stop with all the science talk.
Well it wasn’t just that one shooting star; we saw a couple more that same night and I felt God was trying to talk to me through them. Two nights after that, I was on the plane back home, listening to my i-pod, trying to sleep and there it goes again!! It was brighter than the ones before and a few more followed! I guess people on the plane would’ve thought I’m nuts, imagine someone staring out of a plane window into the night sky ?!
So I compared these shooting stars with our lives. I mean imagine yourself as the debris in the sky knocking off all your worries, pain and hardships (the electrons). And then God will combine your good times with the bad for a bright trail to follow. The bright trail is the wonderful future he has in store for you. He is the light of your life and only if you seek him and put your trust in him for everything, he is able to bring that shimmer and glow to your life. Give yourself freedom; get rid of those unwanted electrons and let Jesus bring that glowing trail of a future to your life.
When Jesus spoke again to his people, he said “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life.” – John 8 vs 12
