It goes MmmBop !!
Ok, so I have to confess and for those who know me pretty long – would know about my crazy obsession with Hanson long ago. So anyway apart from their looks and hair back then, I really did like their music too and I was just on my way to work the other day listening to “mmmbop” when it struck me how much meaning that song has!
So basically an “mmmbop” is that split second in time! That particular moment is unrepeatable and it’s gone. Anything could happen in that time. Someone is born, you lose a friend, someone dies, you break up or hook up with someone, a couple gets married or maybe divorced – it could be anything! But what they’re trying to say is how relationships are affected! It’s the unpredictable nature of friendship. We meet people every day, we start getting along with some of them and with others we don’t. We even end up trusting some of them but then you just never know when they are gonna change their colours and stab you right in the back! In an mmmbop you may be their closest and best friend but the next second – you may be completely forgotten.
I find it amazing how God puts certain people in our lives. From each one of them we can take the good and learn from their bad. When you were in school – he made you fit in to that tiny little group where you would most be yourself. And he made sure that by the time you are in college or in an office – you would make the right decision in choosing your friends and how to go around your colleagues. It’s true we have our mmmbop’s in life and I guess it’s not in our power to know which relationships and friendships would last and which won’t. That’s something God has control of but he gives us the wisdom to decide and choose in those situations. It is also out of our reach to sometimes know who we shouldn’t associate with because they disguise themselves in such clever coats. The only thing we can do is trust in him up above and not entirely in those we meet. People keep coming in and out of our lives but the ones who really care about us will last and be there till the end. Identifying these few seems to get a bit confusing at times!
So if you’re wondering why you ever met someone you really don’t get along with or why the friendship between you and your best friend is shattered – think about all what you gained out of it. Maybe someday down the line you’ll end up being more than just “hi – bye” buddies or one of you would’ve learnt a lesson in the process of losing each other.Someone once said, friends are the family we chose for ourselves. So I guess we should really choose wisely.
