Blessed Friday Mornings !!
I know the thought of waking up at 8.30am on a Friday morning sucks but that’s what the youth of St. Martin’s have been doing for the past eight years! Yea, can you believe it guys? It just struck me the other day as I was browsing through old emails, scripts and pictures. It’s amazing to see where we started from in September 2004 and looking at where we are today. So much accomplished and learned. Growing together with each other & united through Christ. Considering the number of people that leave every year because of studying abroad, we haven’t grown so much in number although we have been spiritually blessed! And now when teens join the fellowship – that certainly makes those of us in our 20’s feel old!
Reminiscing on the years gone by with every Christmas program planned or Youth Sunday skits and worship – have all been so much fun. Not forgetting never starting rehearsals on time or taking an hour or two just to get the key right to start a song. We’ve hosted Christmas talk shows, “Making a Difference” through charity events, published "Flavours' a book of recipes where funds were raised to support missions, attended local and international youth conferences, witnessed amazing miracles, gone on mission trips, led Bible Study meetings, acting in plays, going for prayer walks, written numerous amounts of plays and skits, had in depth discussions on issues we face daily and so much more.
We have bonded so close with one another that we are one big tight knit family! We may have our differences on and off but by the unity of the Holy Spirit we see ourselves all as one through the love of God! Coming to the close of this year, we know our youth group will be facing an amazing challenge. Though all of us won’t be participating together, we will be interceding for each other so that the ultimate mission will be accomplished in time.
Many ask me how I wake up early every Friday morning to go for our youth meetings. So this is what wakes me – “the thought of fellowshipping with one another and working towards finishing that race someday”.
"If only I may finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me—the task of testifying to the gospel of God's grace" - Acts 20 vs 24
I am now gonna stop with a shout out of praise to God for blessing us tthroughout years and Pastor Ernest, Aunty Lalitha, Uncle Mohan and Aunty Mamta for being our guide. And this is something for us all – it’s one of my favourite songs by Mark Schultz or Chris Tomlin called “Give us Clean Hands” – it’s based on Psalm 24 and I reckon It’s as good as being a youth anthem! Do download it and let’s see, maybe we can sing it next Friday!
We bow our Hearts, We bend our knees
Oh Spirit come make us humble
We turn our eyes from evil things
Oh Lord we cast down our idols
So give us clean hands
Give us pure hearts
Let us not lift our souls to another
Give us clean hands, Give us pure hearts
Let us not lift our souls to another
And God let us be
A generation that seeks
That seeks your face
Oh God of Jacob
And God let us be
A generation that seeks
That seeks your face
Oh God of Jacob
Much love & Blessings…

I miss the Friday youth meetings so much! Learnt so much from all of you there! And God blessed me and my siblings with another youthgroup and we meet up on Saturdays here. But the youths in St. Martin's will always hold the most special place for with you people I learnt what 'fellowship' meant. And 'Give us clean hands' is a wonderful song. We sing it here in church and youth meetings.
