Nothing or Everything
I walked to work this morning listening to "Everything" by Lifehouse. Such a powerful song gives me chills, feeling the spirit moving in me strongly. In the midst of working throughout the day, my heart was burdened with different people who consider God as "nothing". It hurt bad.
1. Laura was recently asked about her belief in religion. She said she couldn’t answer because it’s a scary thought. She doesn’t want to find out more because she is afraid of what she’ll hear. She knows she is wrong, she knows she is a sinner and the thought of seeking a God to make sense of the world freaks her out. She thinks it’s too late so she continues living in sin.
2. Mike was a guy raised in a Christian family. He grew up being part of a youth group & a worship team. But the devil soon had a firm grip on him. Religion to him has now become a cliché. He is broken and feels empty inside. The drugs, booze & women don’t satisfy him. He knows there is something missing; he knows it has something to do with God. It’s his inner conscience pricking him. He longs for his soul to be filled but at the same time, wants to live in denial because it’s not cool being termed as “religious”.
3. Jane never knew God. She isn’t atheist but just never bothered seeking him. She now lives a messed up life. Someone tells her to pray. She soon finds herself in a room all alone and wants to talk to the dude up above. But she doesn’t know what to say or how to start. As tears stream down her face she soon asks herself, how do you pray? How do I talk to you God?
I personally know two of these three people above and it brings tears to my eyes. Here are three lost souls who know there is a greater power. They know their souls are empty. They know they need the blood of Jesus Christ to flow through them. They need salvation. But they choose not to follow, they choose not to know. It’s so sad; they don’t know their master and creator. They have no life living, what’s the use? What are they living for? There is no hope for them, nothing to look forward to, a life of just utter emptiness. How long will the world provide their needs? What happens when all ends? They just live a sorry miserable life worth nothing.
It hurts. Not just me, but God mostly. His heart longs for these souls. It’s not just the three people above, there are millions. And I feel God’s heart. He wants Laura to put an end to her sinful life, he wants Mike to be powerful in church and he wants to have those deep conversations with Jane.
I don’t know where you stand today. As for me, I continue praying and believing they all will personally know God like how I do. Don’t let yourself be in God’s list of sorry cases, make sure you are the one praying for a revival of these souls. And if you haven't already - let God be "Everything" in your life.
"God is with you in everything you do" - Genesis 21:22
