A Simple Prayer...

I fall down to my knees

And looking up at the ceiling

I know he is there

And I know he is waiting

So I whisper a “hello”

I now feel his presence

And as I close my eyes

He is ready to listen

I am in awe of his love

He cares much deeply

I continue to thank him

And praise and adore him

Then a sword pricks my heart

And I’m brought to shame

How was I such a fool

To let sin in my way

He wipes all those tears

That I ain’t so proud of

And he gently reminds me

Of his blood on the cross

Words fail to express

How thankful I am

Knowing my King and my Saviour

Gave it all up for me

As I pour out my heart

He continues listening

To each of my worries

And humble requests

The spirit within me

Is now slowly lifted

Along with the joy

And assurance from him

I now draw to a close

Whispering a loud “Amen”

Knowing my troubles

Are in the hands of the Almighty

So if your heart is heavy

And need someone to talk to

You need not look any further

Coz a simple prayer is the answer

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God

Philippians 4: 6-7
